Shantell Petty
Shantell Petty is a seventh generation Arizonan. She is 17 years old and currently attends Sabino High School as a senior. Her formal study of the piano began in the fall of 2006 under the instruction of Dr. June Chow-Tyne.
Since her first
performance with the Civic Orchestra in 2009, Shantell won First Place in the Tucson
Music Teacher's Association's Merit Scholarship Audition. She was also chosen
as a finalist for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra's Young Artist Competition and
received Honorable Mention for the Music Teachers National Association's Young
Artist Competition at the State level. Shantell was the 2011 Senior Piano
Division winner of the Civic Orchestra of Tucson's Young Artists' Competition.
At this time she
serves as the accompanist for her church choir and volunteers occasionally at
Salpointe Catholic High School as their Choral Accompanist.
This is Shantell's second performance with the Civic Orchestra of Tucson and she considers it a
great honor. In addition to her love of music, Shantell enjoys reading, hiking,
and spending time with friends and family.
