Do You Want to Play with Us?
The Civic Orchestra of Tucson (COT) is a 75-member, all-volunteer community orchestra founded in 1975. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from the beginning of September through early May. The first rehearsal is on August 30. The rehearsal venue is near Swan and River Rds.
We are currently seeking musicians in many sections, including 1st violins, violas, cello, and 4th horn. For concerts later in the season, we also need a trumpet and tuba player. We sometimes need substitute musicians (unpaid) to fill in for rehearsals or a concert.
The audition process:
Please fill out the form below to let us know your instrument and experience.
Music Director Keun Oh asks that you create a 10-minute video featuring you playing at least three contrasting pieces of your choice. These may include either solo pieces or standard orchestral excerpts for your instrument. The Personnel Manager will tell you how to submit the video after you complete the form below.
The deadline for auditioning is August 23 to be considered for joining the orchestra for its first concerts in October.
You will need to bring your own music stand to rehearsals and some concerts.
Mask policy for our musicians:
Musicians are encouraged (but not required) to wear masks upon entering the building and remove them only if required by the instrument they play. The Board will continue to evaluate the situation in Pima County on a regular basis.
Read the full policy adopted by the COT Board in October 2022.
if you are interested in joining the COT, please fill out and submit the form below. We will acknowledge your inquiry within 72 hours. We look forward to hearing from you!
