Meet Tiezheng Shen

Award-winning violist Tiezheng Shen, student of Hong-Mei Xiao, recently made his solo debuts at Carnegie Hall and Wiener Saal Mozarteum in Salzburg as a winner of international competitions. He is the Director and Founder of the Viola Voice International Viola Festival in Mexico City.

Other recent highlights include appearing as a guest artist at the National School of Music at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, premiering the Alfred Schnittke Viola Concerto with the Arizona Symphony Orchestra after winning the 42nd President Concerto Competition in 2015, plus guest artist at Conservatorio Nacional de Música Mexico, Wuhan Conservatory, and Baum Guest Artist of the University of Central Arkansas.

As a chamber musician, Mr. Shen is the violist of the award-winning string quartet Quartet Lyrique, and has received professional training with world-leading chamber groups, including Juilliard Quartet, Dover Quartet, Ying Quartet, St. Lawrence Quartet, American Quartet, and Shanghai Quartet. Mr. Shen has also served as principal violist for many professional orchestras and chamber groups in China, Mexico, and the USA.
