Nate Roland
Nate Roland was born in Tucson, Arizona, and began playing trombone at the age of 8. He started playing with the Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 10. His father, Adam Roland, has been his trombone teacher along with some special instruction from Tom Ervin, former Trombone professor at the University of Arizona. He has enjoyed playing a few gigs with his dad and brothers in a trombone quartet for various events.
He is currently the Principal trombone in the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra. His interests include horse riding, farrier work, dog training, and he has an amazing talent for leatherwork and leather carving. Nate is a senior in high school, currently taking online dual enrollment courses. He plans to attend Bob Jones University in South Carolina in the fall with a major in Biblical Studies.
Nate tied for First Place in COT’s 2019 Young Artists’ Competition in the Sr. Winds/Percussion Division. He will perform Morceau Symphonique by Alexandre Guilmant at the orchestra’s Benefit Concert and Silent Auction on Saturday, February 8, 2020.
