Join us for a program of four wonderful pieces that will take you on a musical journey to France, Scotland, Italy, and a lush garden that is wherever you imagine it to be.

The program opens with “La Vie Parisienne,” an overture based on themes by Offenbach, arranged by Antal Dorati. We have invited some music students in the Sahuarita Unified School District to play this piece with us at the Saturday afternoon concert.

Violinist Timothy Kantor will be in the spotlight as soloist in the “Scottish Fantasy” by Max Bruch. Another key player in that piece is harpist Denielle Eliason.

“The Walk to the Paradise Garden” by Frederick Delius offers a gentle meandering journey through tranquil musical moments with harmonies that slip and slide without disturbing this peaceful reverie.

“The Pines of Rome” is a marvelous tone poem in which pine trees in four locations at different times of day are central to Respighi’s story-telling. Listen for the piano, a nightingale singing, and off-stage brass in this large-scale musical performance.
