Roland Duet
Laura Rose Roland, age 17, is homeschooled and in the 11th grade. She has been taking violin lessons from Dennis Bourret since she was 5 years old. Laura Rose competed in a high school festival in South Carolina in November and won 1st place in the Strings Division. Her hobbies include drawing, reading, and making jewelry.
Sarah Joy Roland, age 15, has been playing cello for 9 years under the teaching of Mary Beth Tyndall. Besides her love of music and cello, she loves to spend time with her dog Dixie and ride her horse Brody. She is homeschooled and in the 9th grade.
Laura Rose and Sarah Joy make a great sister duo! They enjoy playing together as well as playing music with their other siblings. They are two of eleven siblings. They, along with several siblings, have played together with The Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tucson Junior Strings Orchestra, and are currently in the Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
They won 1st Place winner in the Ensemble Division of the 2020 Young Artists’ Competition and will perform “Passacaglia for Violin and Cello” by G. F. Handel and Halverson at the Benefit Concert.
